Mission Statement

 

The mission of the Coeur d’Alene Tri Club is to provide experienced and inexperienced triathletes of the area a network for camaraderie, training, education and support. The goal is to promote continued growth and enjoyment in triathlon. 
 

 

COEUR D’ALENE TRIATHLON CLUB
CONSTITUTION
 
 
 
ARTICLE I - CLUB PURPOSE
 
The Coeur d’Alene Triathlon Club is an organized club dedicated to the educational pursuit of triathlon, general physical fitness, and the representation of the sport of triathlon within the community. Organized under section 501c7.
 
ARTICLE II - CLUB NAME
 
The official name of the club shall be Coeur d’Alene Triathlon Club.
 
ARTICLE III – CLUB MEMBERSHIP
 
Membership shall be open to any individual who shares in the common purpose of the
Coeur d’Alene Triathlon Club. Membership shall be granted without discrimination related to race, creed, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, physical/mental ability or sexual orientation.
 
Increasing of dues will be based on necessity. Increasing of dues will require a 2/3 vote of the Executive Committee.  
 
Membership entitles member to attend club meetings, club training sessions, club social events and receive club communications. Also included is the right to vote on club business and the right to compete under the title and in the club apparel of the Coeur d’Alene Triathlon Club.
 
Club membership dues shall run from January 1 to December 31. There will be no prorating of the dues rate for late calendar application. 
 
Member signature on the Coeur d”Alene Triathlon Club “liability waiver” is required for club membership. 
 
Club membership for persons under the age of 18 shall require a parent/guardian signature on the membership/liability form. 
 
A member’s personal information/application info will not be sold or distributed to a second party. This information is for club use only.  Unless otherwise indicated by member,
 “Release for Photo” is granted. 
 
"Conduct Unbecoming" will result in cancellation of membership.  “Conduct Unbecoming” shall be defined as/but not limited to disrespectful acts towards other athletes/competitors, and/or any act of violence occurring during triathlon events/tri club events/ training sessions. Removal from the club will require 2/3 majority vote by the Executive Committee. 
 
 
ARTICLE IV – EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE/BOARD – Terms of these board positions shall be from January 1 until December 31 of each calendar year. These are voluntary positions without compensation. Retiring committee members shall be eligible for re-election.
 
The Executive Committee shall consist of (7) managing club coordinators as follows:
 
Training:  Organize/Implement training and educational opportunities for club members. 
 
Social:   Plan/coordinate social activities for club members.
 
Membership/Secretary:   Colect/Process membership applications/maintain membership data base and distribute membership cards.  Maintain accurate written history of club meetings/board meetings.
 
Communications: Create/Maintain an up to date communication network
(Web site/newsletter/club e-mail list).
 
Community Liaison: Develop/maintain positive relationships with the community. 
Solicit/Track sponsorship. The Executive Committee shall approve/reject sponsorship programs/proposals when submitted for consideration. A 2/3 majority vote will be required for acceptance. A sponsorship agreement approved by the Executive Committee will be required with benefits to club members well defined.    
 
Club Apparel: Order/Track club apparel /Distribution of club apparel
 
Treasurer: Maintain and report to general membership financial status of the club. Collect club dues, pay club debts, and account for club finances on a monthly basis.  
A double signature card shall be required on club checking/savings accounts.  Profits made by the Club shall be used for the benefit of its members in accordance with the club rules and club Constitution.
 
 
 
ARTICLE V - EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE– Shall meet once a monthto review/organize/plan club business and future agendas.  All executive committee meetings are open to the general membership. The executive board can appoint committees as needed for club business and/or activities. The Executive Committee shall meet the last Monday of each month at a time agreed upon by the committee.
 
All club activities must be reviewed/approved by an Executive Committee member.   
 
 
 
 
 
ARTICLE VI - CLUB MEETING – General Membership meetings shall be quarterly, occurring on the first Monday of the month. Dates/Times/Location to be published in club newsletter. 
 
The Executive Committee may, with advance notice (via the club communication network), call an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the club for any specific business, the nature of which shall be stated in a summary and distributed to the general club membership. 
 
The Executive Committee shall also convene an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) upon the written request of not fewer than 10 members. The request for a (EGM) shall be presented in written form to the executive committee for review/approval and scheduling.  
 
ARTICLE VII – CLUB ELECTIONSThe Executive Committee shall ask for nominations from the floor at the second to the last quarterly general membership meeting. Club elections shall take place at the last quarterly general membership meeting of the calendar year. Voting shall close at the end of this meeting. 
 
ARTICLE VIII -  AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION –  Proposed amendments will be recommended to/by the Executive Committee, and shall be posted in the club newsletter before being voted on at the next regularly scheduled general membership meeting. The proposal of addition new amendments or edification of existing amendments shall be presented in writing to the executive board for consideration first. Only after 2/3 majority vote by the Executive Committee shall the proposal be presented to the general membership for vote.   A majority of 2/3 of attending general membership will then be required to pass any proposal.
 
ARTICLE IX – MISCELLANEOUS – This constitution shall comply with applicable state and federal regulations.
